Hunter hurt in Idaho mountains, snow hampers rescue

ELMORE COUNTY -- A search and rescue effort in Elmore County encountered some unexpected setbacks this afternoon due to snowfall.
Early this afternoon, dispatchers received a call for help from a hunter that had been bucked off his horse in the Pine/Featherville area. The man suffered a broken leg.
Elmore County Sheriff's Sgt. Laytreda Schultz says deputies were responding to the accident but the access road was blocked by a jacknifed pickup towing a trailer. That has since been cleared.
Schultz says an air ambulance was dispatched to assist the hunter, but was called off due to falling snow.
Elmore County search and crews headed to the area on ATVs. The hunter is OK but is four miles from the road and the path to him is too narrow to be accessed by the ATVs.
Rescuers went in on foot, but it hours to reach the man and get him out of the backcountry.
