KUNA -- Two Kuna elementary schools went into lockdown this morning after school officials received word that a student threatened to bring a gun to school.
Prinicipals at Hubbard and Teed elementary schools say for the safety of students around 8 a.m. they immediately put the schools in lockdown and notified police.
The child who made the threat was located, but did not have gun. Police are now following up on the matter in accordance with school policy. No word yet on what, if any, disciplinary action the student might face.
A letter was sent home today with students of both schools. In it, school officials stress the importance of talking with their children about the seriousness of making threats at school. Any threat of violence upon another child or the school is regarded seriously. In these types of situations it is their practice to lockdown the school and work with police until the matter is resolved.
They say the most important thing is to make sure all the children are safe at school.
