Boise could give eco-friendly drivers a parking break
11:05 AM MDT on Monday, October 6, 2008
BOISE - Environmentally friendly cars may soon get free parking at Downtown Boise meters.
The Boise City Council is considering an ordinance that would create a special green parking permit for electric and zero-emission vehicles.
The permit would cost $10. Vehicles displaying the permit would be allowed to park in metered spaces downtown without charge.
Drivers would still be required to comply with any time restrictions on the meter or be subject to a $20 fine.
The council was originally set to consider the plan at its Tuesday meeting, but has pushed that decision back a week and will take up the matter on Oct. 14.
