Police prepare to load up a Dodge van they saw was involved in a high speed chase overnight that left one officer injured.

BOISE - One man is in custody this morning after a late night chase through the streets of Boise.

Police say an officer tried to stop the driver of a Dodge for a suspected DUI on Americana Boulevard when the suspect, Luke Ledford, 32 drove away.

Officers say they followed Ledford to the Fred Meyer parking lot on Orchard and Franklin. They say he then intentionally rammed a patrol car, slightly injuring an officer.

Ledford then took off eastbound on Franklin toward Curtis.

Police say Ledford hit speeds of up to 60 to 70-miles-per-hour, traveling back down towards Boise State University, then back on to the Bench where the suspect was stopped using a pursuit intervention technique – or PIT maneuver - near Curtis and Irving.

A patrol car came alongside the back of the suspect's car and turns in to it causing it to spin.

"What you look for in the PIT maneuver is you want to have a wide roadway. You want to have very little traffic. You want to have slow speeds and this was actually a perfect location for that. A nice wide road here on Curtis and there was no other traffic at the time the PIT maneuver was used," said Boise Police Lt. David Adams.

Ledford was arrested on multiple charges including aggravated battery on an officer, aggravated DUI felony eluding and misdemeanor for driving without privileges.
