CALDWELL - A former bookkeeper at a Caldwell metal company was sentenced for stealing nearly $1 million over the course of seven years.

From 2000 to 2007 Jackie Grandstaff, 54 used company checks to pay off her credit cards.

Grandstaff worked at Isom Industrial Metals in Caldwell for 14 years where her fellow employees say she gained their trust and the trust of the owner.

The company didn't find out Grandstaff was behind this until the owner spent $75,000 dollars of his own money to hire a private investigator to find answers.

"Basically there was suspicion by the owner, and his son-in-law who helps him run the company,” Tammie Nebeker with Isom Industrial Metals said. “Business was coming in, the money should have been coming in, but they just could not figure out where the profits were.”

Investigators told Isom metals that Grandstaff was using the nearly $1million for vacations, gambling, plastic surgery and jewelry.

Grandstaff was sentenced for grand theft and tax perjury Monday.

She could serve nearly 20 years in prison for the combined rulings.
