CALDWELL -- Nearly a year after being accused of trying to kill a 5-year-old friend, a 13-year-old Nampa boy is in Canyon County Jail, facing charges as an adult.

Tuesday, 13-year-old Trevor Reizenstein was moved from the Canyon County Juvenile Detention Center to the jail and booked on three felony charges -- attempted murder, sex abuse and battery.

Two other boys found his alleged victim on their way home from school on January 24th -- the five-year-old girl was under a bush, her body partially covered by building material -- she was badly beaten and barely breathing.

The little girl spent several days in the hospital, but did recover from her physical injuries.

Because of the severity of the crime, prosecutors wanted the teenager charged as an adult, but it took months of mental evaluation to make that happen.

Reizenstein, a West Middle School student, is being held without bond.

While he is in adult jail, he's being housed with other juveniles who are also facing adult charges.
