Lara Eustermann will spend Thanksgiving at home with her family

BOISE - While many of us have so much to be thankful for today -- one local family truly takes the cake.

You may have heard the story of Lara Eustermann -- she was struck by lightning near Hidden Springs on October 1st.

The electrical force should have killed her -- her heart stopped, her skin was burned.

Fortunately, Lara's mother was right there and began lifesaving CPR.

After a 3-week coma she woke up.

She's been at the Elks Rehabilitation Center for several weeks trying to regain her physical strength and coordination.

What she really wanted was to go home for Thanksgiving.

That's exactly what she Thursday did for the first time in nearly two-months.

She will return to Elks tonight to continue her rehabilitation - but hopes to be home permanently by Christmas.
