It was a crazy scene on U.S. 93 just south of Hollister early this morning.

Around 12:50 a.m., Idaho State Police responded to multiple crashes that killed 16 cows.

Police say Christopher Kutzler, 35, of Glendive, Mont., was driving northbound on U.S. 93 in a 2007 Kenworth Tractor, when he struck several cows in the roadway.

Around the same time, Donald Coker, 78, of Buhl, was traveling northbound in a 2001 Chevy Malibu when he struck a cow in the road. And a third vehicle, a Cadillac, also struck the cows.

There were no injuries and minor damage to the Cadillac. There were no injuries to the people in the tractor trailer or the Chevy Malibu.

No information was available about the owner of the cows.

Police say everyone in the vehicles was wearing seatbelts.

According to brand inspectors, this area of U.S. 93 is not considered open range.

The accidents remain under investigation.
