Fire rescuers pulled this dog to safety after he was trapped in a well Wednesday night.
BOISE - The Boise Fire Department successfully rescued a puppy from a well Wednesday night.
The seven-week-old terrier had only been in his new backyard off Bond St. for about an hour before he fell down the well.
The well is about 12-feet-deep - the puppy was stuck about five feet in.
After a rescue attempt by the neighbors, they finally called the Boise Fire Department – and firefighters came to the rescue.
"We brought out our technical rescue team," deputy chief Dave Hanneman said. "Usually we don't do this for animals - it's for people, but obviously we can rescue animals the same way."
The team had to cut away concrete and expand the hole to get to the dog. After about two hours, they pulled the puppy to freedom.
The dog is in great health - and someone at the scene suggested his new name be “Lucky.”
