Idaho angler breaks his own smallmouth bass record

LEWISTON -- Dan Steigers knew someone would eventually break his eleven-year-old smallmouth bass record. He just didn't know it would be him.
Steigers caught a nine-pound, 11.25-ounce smallmouth from Dworshak Reservoir in northern Idaho on Saturday, eclipsing the eight-pound, five-ounce record he set with a fish caught in the same reservoir.
Steigers says he was using a plastic bait called a "Sweet Beaver" when the record fish hit.
Dworshak Reservoir has developed a reputation for producing large smallmouth bass in recent years.
