EMMETT -- A pair of former Gem County jail inmates have filed claims against the county totaling $1 million, claiming that they were sexually abused while behind bars.
Three jailers were named in the case, as well as the local sheriff and the Gem County Commission.
Janet Cain and Erica Contreras allege they were subjected to sexual abuse by more than one jail employee.
The women allege the abuse took place in rooms where guards knew no video surveillance existed.
Guy Price, the women's lawyer, says a pattern of sexual abuse may have existed at the jail north of Boise "for some time."
