Young plane crash survivor still recovering
01:39 PM MDT on Thursday, May 29, 2008
Tyler Pickering, age 3, is recovering from third-degree burns on his legs, arms and torse.
BOISE -- The sole survivor of a tragic plane crash in McCall earlier this month underwent his third surgery this week.
Three-year old Tyler Pickering was badly burned when his grandfather's plane collided with another as the two pilots attempted to land at the same time.
Tyler has been in a Salt Lake City intensive care burn unit for nearly a month.
His parents say he will likely stay there for at least two more weeks as he recovers from his third skin graft surgery. He is still in critical condition.
Tyler’s one-year-old and six-year-old brothers were killed in the crash, as well as his grandfather.
Jennifer and Chris Pickering returned to Idaho from Salt Lake City today in order to pick out a burial site for the other sons.
The funeral service for Dylan and William Pickering and their grandfather, Bill Keating, will take place Saturday, June 7, at the Mountain Life Church in McCall.
Because of Tyler’s out-of-state medical care, the funeral was delayed until the family felt it could all be together.
