BOISE – Boise Police say they have arrested a door-to-door salesman who pushed his way into to several West Boise homes and propositioned the female residents.

Kevin Haggerty, 25 of Monassas, Virginia was cited for soliciting without a license. Haggerty and two others were cited after police received several complaints.

Kevin Haggerty was cited for door-to-door soliciting without a license.

The complaints came in late last week from residents along McMillan Road from Mitchell to Eagle roads. Several female residents told police that a man claiming to be a magazine salesman made unwanted advances toward them.

Similar complaints were received from residents around the Cloverdale/Overland roads area on Sunday.

Officers soon found the man, who admitted he'd been in the area trying to sell magazines. A short time later, more reports were received from residents in the same area who said a man fitting Haggerty's description was peering into cars and apartments.

Residents were able to give officers a description of a white van with Virginia license plates that had picked up the suspect and driven off.

Officers quickly located the van and arrested Haggerty for disorderly conduct and cited him for possession of marijuana.

The driver of the van, Melissa Wright, 23, of Richmond, Virginia, and another passenger in the van, Lacey Dunn, 21, of Bend, Oregon were also cited for soliciting without a license.

Boise Police say residents need to be aware of potential scams and other dangers from unlicensed door-to-door sales people.

According to the Boise City Clerk's Office no one currently has a license to sell magazines door-to-door in the city.

Police say this is a recurring problem in neighborhoods and officers want residents to be aware that commercial door-to-door sales people must carry their license with them that includes a photo ID.

Residents are advised never to let any stranger into their home, because it could lead to a robbery.
