McCall pays off $6M debt days before deadline
11:32 AM MDT on Wednesday, May 14, 2008
McCALL -- McCall’s long-running legal battle is finally over. This after more than $6 million in debt is repaid.
For many residents in McCall it seemed this financial fiasco would never end -- but it has.
The city of McCall just satisfied a $6.1 million judgment against it -- money owed, in part, for the construction of its wastewater treatment facility in 1995.
McCall claimed the work wasn't done properly. The contractor and insurance company disagreed and demanded payment.
The city was legally bound to make that payment by Thursday or face serious ramifications.
McCall met its deadline a week ahead of schedule through the sale of bonds.
Those will then be repaid over the next 20 years through increased sewer rates.
