A two-year-old child fell out this window of a Boise apartment complex Sunday.
BOISE - A Boise toddler is recovering after falling out of the second story window of an apartment building.
It happened Sunday morning at the Willows apartment complex just off Morris Hill Road.
Police say the boy was conscious and breathing on his own when he was taken to the hospital.
Medics, firefighters and half a dozen police officers responded the complex just after 10 Sunday morning.
Police and witnesses say the two-year-old boy was playing on a couch inside this second story apartment when he fell through the window screen and on to the ground.
"I was eating breakfast at my desk and all I hear is this thud and then the mother screaming out the window and people running down the stairs,” neighbor Troy Reed said. “I look out the window and there's this little boy that's just screaming his head off.”
Reed said he immediately called police dispatch.
“I called 911. He was moving, his head was moving, his legs were moving,” Reed said.
Police say this type of incident is extremely unusual, and they are continuing to investigate. They do not believe the fall was anything more than an accident.
The boy's identity is not being released.
Reed says it is an event he won’t soon forget.
“It's definitely a sight to look out the window and 9:30 in the morning and see a kid falling out the window,” Reed said.
