Devastating fire burns at New Meadows High School

Flames destroyed the schools music room and caused smoke and water damage throughout the building.

New Meadows, ID-- An overnight fire has destroyed one room and caused extensive damage at New Meadows High School.

The town is located north of Boise on highway 95.

 Meadows Valley firefighters were called out to the school just after two o'clock in the morning

Smoke and soot caused extensive damage to the schools gym. Officials say graduation will not take place in the gym this year.

Where they found the school's music room on fire. The music room was destroyed.

Right now, it's believed a surge protector on an electrical cord overheated.

The school's gym is heavily damaged by smoke, water, and heat.

School officials who say they think the school will be ready for students when they return from spring break so, they have a week to get it ready.

The school does not have fire sprinklers.
