Kevin Moore, left and Josiah Moore right spent the night in the wilderness after their Jeep got stuck in Boise County.

GARDEN VALLEY - A nice Easter drive to Boise County turned into an unexpected overnight adventure -- complete with the rescue of two young men Monday afternoon.

While the weather was nice this weekend -- it's not quite time to be venturing out on backcountry roads still covered by several feet of snow.

It was supposed to be a simple day trip to a hot springs outside Garden Valley, but two cousins from California got in way over their heads.

Josiah Moore, 22 and his cousin Kevin Moore, 20 drove to Boiling Hot Springs on Easter morning -- 25 miles from Garden Valley.  The vast majority of that drive was on snowmobile trails not suitable for vehicles.

Despite that, they made it, but when it was time to return - the power of 4-wheel drive was not enough.

"As soon as the night hit, we got back to our car and tried to drive out and got stuck," Josiah said.

"We got out of our first ditch and got into our second ditch and then our 3rd one sucked us in and we couldn't get out," Josiah Moore said.

The road is clearly marked with numerous signs discouraging motorist from going any further that direction.

Despite that, Josiah and Kevin thought their 4-wheeled drive Jeep could do the trick; they will likely now have to pay the posted $300 fine.

Crews put a plane in the air, and seventeen people searched from the ground. The pair were found just after noon Monday.

The pair said they were about to hike back to civilization when searchers found them.
