Fire destroys popular Idaho City restaurant

IDAHO CITY -- A kitchen fire destroyed a popular Idaho City restaurant this week.
For many people, Trudy's Kitchen is a destination location - a reason to drive to Idaho City for the day.
But a fierce fire this week forced this popular kitchen to close just as the tourist season was about to begin.
Those who've been to Trudy's know this is more than a restaurant; it's a museum of sorts -- full of sentimental artifacts that Trudy herself collected for 30 years.
While much, if not most of it was destroyed, Trudy Jackson's resilience is holding strong.
"It's stuff. Makes you realize you can't get attached to stuff, because this stuff isn't coming and giving me hugs, my customers and my friends are," said Jackson.
All day long, her loyal customers have been dropping by - delivering hugs and offers of heart felt support.
The cause of the fire and the extent of structural damage are still unknown, but Trudy expects it will take months to rebuild and reopen her popular establishment.
Fire investigators are on scene today trying to determine a cause.
The damage is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
