BOISE -- A 29-year-old soldier from Rigby was one of four killed in Iraq on Thursday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their unit during combat operations.

The Department of Defense reported the death of Sgt. Emerson N. Brand.

He was based in Fort Hood, Texas, as were the three other soldiers who died in the attack.

At least 22 Idaho residents have died in separate attacks in Iraq since the United States invaded in March 2003.
