BOISE -- The officers involved in a fatal shooting late last year were justified in using lethal force, that according to a report released today by the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force.
On November 6th, several officers from Boise Police and Ada County Sheriff's shot and killed 40-year-old Tyler Lowery after he made a threatening move with a handgun.
They confronted Lowry near the Fred Meyer parking lot on Overland Road in Boise, attempting to arrest him for assaulting his former mother-in-law.
It was during that standoff that Lowry was shot and killed.
"It's always a tragic experience when someone is killed in these sorts of incidents, but I think in this case, the officers didn't have a choice, they did what they had to do that day. It's unfortunate Mr. Lowry died, but I think the homicide was justifiable and I don't think there's any question of that," said Mark Hiedeman, Critical Incident Task Force.
Six officers fired their weapons at Lowry who was struck by eight of their bullets.
