New pictures today from Iraq as Idaho’s soldiers pay tribute to one of their own.

Members of the 116th Brigade Combat Team held a memorial service for Spec. Carrie French in Kirkuk.

In one picture, battalion commanders symbolically place a commander's coin on her memorial.

The Caldwell native was killed on Sunday when a roadside bomb hit her convoy.

Back here at home, family members are remembering soldiers in the 116th who departed for Iraq one year ago today.

It was on this day last summer when the soldiers boarded planes to take them to Fort Bliss, Texas for training.

About 4,300 soldiers left that day, 2,000 of them from Idaho.

The 116th could return home around Christmas.
