Bob Behler has been named the new radio voice of the Broncos by Peak Broadcasting officials.
BOISE - Bob Behler has been named as the new Voice of the Broncos for the coming football and basketball season for games on a network of stations including Boise’s KIDO.
Behler comes from the University of Massachusetts where he managed the broadcast properties at the school. He also handled play-by-play duties for football, men’s basketball, baseball, hockey, lacrosse and softball.
Behler is a Stockton, California native with a degree in broadcast news from the University of Georgia. He’s taken home he Best Radio Play by Play award from the Associated Press in the Massachusetts/Rhode Island for the last seven years straight.
Before coming to U-Mass, Behler did play-by-play at Bucknell and UGA. He’s also done work for ESPN Radio, CBS Radio, Turner Broadcasting and others.
Peak Broadcasting picked up the radio rights earlier this year from long-time partner KBOI. In addition to KIDO, games will air on KSNQ Twin Falls, KWIK Pocatello, KID Idaho Falls, KYZK Sun Valley, KMXM McCall, KSRV Ontario and KALE Tri-Cities, WA.
The first game is set for August 30th against Idaho State. A color analyst has not yet been named.
Behler takes over for long-time play-by-play announcer Paul J. Schenider who helmed games for more than 30 years. Schneider will be honored during halftime of the Idaho State game, and a scholarship fund has been set up in his name with the school. He continues to host the morning show on KBOI.
