Idaho man drowns after car crashes into Salmon River

STANLEY -- The Custer County Sheriff's Office says a 59-year-old Salmon man died Tuesday afternoon after craashing his car into the Salmon River.
According to officers, Pete Carroll Wells was eastbound on State Highway 75 at milepost 198.4 when for reasons unknown, he drove off the road and into the river. His Ford Taurus overturned and Wells drowned.
Wells was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
