IDAHO FALLS - A former eastern Idaho Boy Scout camp counselor who acknowledges molesting at least two dozen youngsters since 1988 was released from prison earlier this month and is living in Boise.

Bradley Stowell, now 36, served three years of his 2-to-14-year-sentence after being sent back to prison in 2005 for a probation violation.

He was originally arrested July 11, 1997 at Camp Little Lemhi in Swan Valley after two brothers filed complaints.

Stowell's molestations have had far-reaching effects, with the state Legislature passing several laws championed by the family of the abused brothers to boost sentences and expand victims' rights.

His release June 2 comes despite a recommendation from a hearing officer that he's still a risk and should remain behind bars.
