BOISE -- The Idaho Transportation Department will close a section of Idaho 55 starting at 4 p.m. Thursday through Monday for emergency highway repairs to fix a sink hole.
The closure is at milepost 130.2, about a mile south of Donnelly. Motorists will be detoured onto Loomis Lane and Old Highway 55.
Officials say a small box culvert running under the road failed at Willow Creek, undermining the road and making the closure necessary.
Crews are digging a larger hole twelve feet wide by eight feet long and six feet deep to fix the hole. Heavy machinery is on the highway causing the closure.
The new asphalt for the repairs will be trucked in early Monday morning, and the work should be completed by noon.
