363 new Idaho laws, many take effect now
03:59 PM MDT on Sunday, July 1, 2007
BOISE - If ignorance is no excuse - you better get studying, since more than 360 new Idaho laws took effect Sunday.
One of the most visible new laws will ban smoking in bowling alleys statewide.
Another law names English as the state's official language.
Those are two of 363 laws that the Idaho Legislature passed last session, with most of them going into effect today.
Another new law limits the number of unrelated passengers in vehicles operated by newly licensed drivers under age 17 in an attempt to reduce accidents.
As of today it's also a misdemeanor to maliciously and willfully disrupt a funeral or memorial service.
That law is partially aimed at a Kansas group that sends protesters to the funerals of soldiers and has appeared in Idaho.
Minors seeking an abortion must now get parental consent, though similar parental consent laws have been overturned in court. For a complete list of new laws, click hereMore Local News
