Several Boise State hats with a Florida Gator logo on them were for sale at Boise Wal-Mart locations.

BOISE - If you were browsing the racks for a Boise State ball cap at your local Wal-Mart, you might have noticed something a little… off.  The retail giant had several different varieties for sale – including one Bronco hat that featured a Florida Gators logo.

The mixed-up white hat features the famous blue and orange Bronco head on the front – but a blue, orange and green gator insignia on the bill.  The back of the hat includes the Boise State trademark lettering.

A viewer first informed us about the hats, and said they have been available for several weeks.

A Wal-Mart store manager wasn’t aware of the confused caps – but did say he received a few jackets last year with similar mis-matched Boise State/Florida markings.

Boise State officials weren’t aware of the ball caps. After an inquiry by NewsChannel 7, the school contacted its licensing firm, which in turn asked the manufacturer to have the caps pulled. 

Boise State’s director of trademark licensing and enforcement said the maker of the hats blamed the mix-up on a “manufacturing mistake.”
