Rudy Andrade, 19, of Nampa, was shot and killed by police during a confrontation outside his home on Feb. 22.

CALDWELL – No criminal charges will be filed against two Nampa Police officers involved in the Feb. 22 shooting death of a Rudolph “Guy” Andrade.

Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney Dave Young released a five-page report today stating that the officers, who have not been identified, responded with the appropriate use of force and acted in self-defense.

Andrade, 19, was fatally shot by police after he confronted officers at the home of his girlfriend’s mom at 3019 Sugar Cane Lane in Nampa.

Officers were called to a home for a domestic disturbance at 2:20 a.m.

Police say Andrade, who was covered in blood, approached officers with what they believed to be a knife and failed to yield to their commands to drop the knife.  It was later determined that Andrade had busted a window trying to get into the home and was actually carrying a piece of glass.

Following the shooting, the two officers were put on paid administrative leave and a Critical Incident Task Force led by Caldwell Police investigated the shooting.

That investigation was subsequently turned over to the Canyon County prosecutor for review.

The two officers involved in the shooting were fairly new to the Nampa Police Department.  One had just joined, while the other had been on the force for three years.
