BOISE -- Books may date back to the papyrus of ancient Egypt, but the Idaho Commission for Libraries is joining the 21st century with Web site revamp that aims to give librariansspace to blog about their changing world.

With a federal $25,000 grant, the agency is currently testing the new site, which it plans to roll out this October.

At the existing site -- http://libraries.idaho.gov -- visitors have limited options to search for information.

In the site under testing -- at http://icfl.idaho.gov -- there will be seven ways to find what they are looking for.

Anne Abrams, the agency's marketing consultant, says the aim is to build library communities across Idaho's far-flung geographical boundaries, and to show librarians from Boundary County to Bear Lake that they can adopt similar models for their own Web sites.
