The city of Nampa has purchased the Desert Inn Motel property for $1.5 million.
NAMPA -- The Nampa City Council today agreed to pay $1.5 million for property that will be home to a new Public Safety Building. The property is located at the site of the Desert Inn Motel at 115 9th Avenue South.
“This property purchase will allow the Nampa Development Corporation to move forward with its first big project which will be a great economic driver for downtown businesses,” said Nampa Economic Development Director, Cliff Long.
Meanwhile, the process for judicial confirmation is underway. Judge Linda Copple Trout set the final information request deadline for Friday. As soon as she makes a decision, the NDC can move forward with financing plans, and finalizing architectural and engineering designs. Construction on the project should begin in 2009.
City officials say plans are underway to hold a town hall meeting to update residents on the library and public safety block projects and get their input.
