Ed Stevens is currently serving a life sentence for the 1996 shaking death of 11-month-old Casey Whiteside.

BOISE -- A Meridian man who has maintained his innocence since he was convicted of murder was denied his request for a new trial.

Ed Stevens says there is new evidence to support his innocence and denies shaking his 11-month-old stepson to death 12 years ago. 

The Idaho Supreme Court ruled four to one against Stevens.

His defense attorney says the boy fell down the stairs and died while Stevens was watching him.
