OROFINO - A juvenile girl was arrested on suspicion of second-degree arson in connection with a series of fires.

Police did not release the girl's name, but said she was taken to the Clearwater County Jail for booking on Friday.

Authorities said they suspected the girl of starting five fires, including a shed fire, that broke out in an Orofino neighborhood between Tuesday and Thursday.

Crews from the Orofino Fire Department and Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protection Association responded to the fires, along with officers from the Orofino Police Department, Nez Perce Tribal Police, and the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office.
