PLUMMER--The Heyburn State Park, which is located in Plummer, Idaho, celebrated its centennial birthday today.
To commemorate it's birthday, all state parks celebrated the grand event, including Eagle Island State Park.
Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation says it hopes the celebration will be a fun event while increasing public awareness of our parks.
"100 years ago Heyburn State park became our first state park so we're celebrating today. It only comes around once every 100 years so help celebrate and get the word out that they are a fun place to visit," said Gary Shelley, Park Manager.
Idaho has 30 state parks and recreational trail ways that serve more than 2.5 million visitors annually.
