Tia L. Nielson and Jeffrey F. Johnson are charged with felony injury to a child for leaving drug paraphernalia near their children.
BOISE - Police found two kids, heroin and drug paraphernalia in a Boise home - putting two parents behind bars.
Officers say a traffic stop led them to the home - where they found drugs and paraphernalia.
Jeffrey F. Johnson, 37 of Boise and Tia L. Nelson, 29 of Boise are both charged with two counts of felony injury to a child. Johnson is also charged with driving without privileges and destruction of evidence. Nielson is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Officers say they made the traffic stop near Kootenai and Phillippi Monday. They say Johnson was driving with an invalid license - and they arrested him. They also say during the stop, he swallowed a bundle of heroin. They then took him to a local hospital for a medical check -- and doctors gave him the OK.
A neighbor saw the arrest and called police out of concern for Johnson's two children - aged two and four. Police arrived at the home to check on the kids - and found their mother, Nielson, inside the home. She let officers in, and officers say they found drug paraphernalia and additional heroin - described as a "small amount." Police say syringes was within easy reach of the children.
Jailers booked Nielson into jail, and the children were placed in the custody of Idaho State Health & Welfare.
A second woman - Cheyene A. Fell, 27 of Boise was in the car with Johnson at the time of the traffic stop - she is also awaiting charges on possession of drug paraphernalia.
