Steven Thompson, 17, of Boise, died in a car crash on Highway 55 last summer.
Boise County Prosecuting Attorney Timothy Fleming said today that a man involved in a deadly crash on Highway 55 just north of Boise that claimed the life of a Centennial High School student last summer has been charged with vehicular manslaughter.
Ryan K. Howard, who lives in Donnelly, is scheduled to appear in a Horseshoe Bend courtroom on Feb. 17 to face the charge. He is accused of driving carelessly or inattentively at a speed that is greater than reasonable for the conditions, and led to Steven Thompson's death.
Steve Thompson, 17, and two Centennial High cross country teammates were in a Subaru driven by their coach Glenn Mabey on their way to an annual team event in Stanley when Howard lost control of his Dodge Durango and veered into oncoming traffic.

Idaho State Police said Howard was pulling a trailer and traveling southbound. The trailer jackknifed out of control as Howard was entering a corner before he crossed the centerline and hit the Subaru head-on.
Police investigators said weather was a factor in the July 22nd accident.
Thompson, who was in a rear passenger seat, died from his injuries.
Mabey and two of his athletes, Michael Dobkins, 17, and Austin Stalling, 18, were hospitalized.
A third car was also hit and the driver and passenger also sustained injuries.
Mabey broke his arm and doctors removed his spleen following the accident. And he doesn't remember what happened in the crash.
Centennial High School held a silent run on Aug. 1 to honor Thompson in which runners, coaches and parents all took part. Mabey was still recovering from his injuries at that time and was unable to participate.
The penalty for vehicular manslaughter is up to one year in jail and up to a $2,000 fine.
