James Peck, 47, of Glendale, Ariz., is suspected of burglarizing eight local restaurants in Meridian, Boise and Nampa.
MERIDIAN -- Meridian Police say an Arizona man was arrested Monday in connection with several recent commercial burglaries in the Treasure Valley.
James D. Peck, 47, of Glendale, Ariz., was taken into custody after he was stopped for a traffic violation and burglar tools were found in his vehicle.
Police say there have been at least eight commercial burglaries in the area, mostly restaurants that occurred in the early morning hours.
Four of the burglaries occurred in Meridian and officers were notified of a possible suspect’s vehicle. A Meridian officer spotted a vehicle matching the description Monday morning and notified other agencies in Ada County.
Upon further investigation, Meridian Police contacted Nampa Police and learned that a burglary had occurred approximately half an hour prior to the officer spotting Peck's car.
A short time later, a Boise Police officer stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation and saw burglar tools in it.
Peck was taken into custody and is believed to be responsible for eight burglaries.
The four Meridian restaurant burglaries were at Smoky Mountain Pizza, Jakers, Wingers, and Corona Village. They all occurred on Dec. 27th.
Peck is also believed to be responsible for the burglary at Fiesta Guadalajara on Dec. 31st where the gas burners were turned on causing a strip mall at Eagle Road and Chinden Boulevard to be shut down.
Investigators believe Peck is involved in the burglary of Smoky Mountain Pizza in Boise, along with the burglaries of Wingers and the UPS store in Nampa.
Peck was booked into the Ada County Jail on eight counts of burglary. He was arraigned today and his bond was set at $750,000.
