Bogus closes due to high winds
10:29 AM MST on Friday, February 8, 2008
BOISE - Bogus Basin Road was closed Thursday afternoon due to very poor driving conditions.
A four to six vehicle crash blocked the road, and officials worked to clear the accidents. Boise Fire and Ada County Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash.
Bogus Basin Resort closed for the rest of Thursday - cancelling all night skiing and lessons. Skiers and boarders already on the mountain are being led down the hill with a pilot car.
The high winds are pushing snow on to the road's surface, making it difficult for drivers.
Bogus has two sanding trucks and a front end loader working to clean up the road.
The earlier accident was caused by a large snow drift moving on to the road - plus whiteout conditions. One car hit the drift, causing a chain reaction.
No one was hurt in the crashes.
Bogus Basin officials plan to reopen the mountain Friday morning.
