Officers received a call around 1 p.m. from a resident near Cynthia Mann Elementary School in Boise who had spotted some teenage boys smoking cigarettes.

Police arrived but found the teens were gone, but noticed footprints in the snow. The footprints appeared to be walking around every parked car on the street.

The trail led officers about 400 yards before they spotted four teenage boys getting into an unlocked car.

Upon further investigation, police found evidence the teens had burglarized around 10 unlocked parked vehicles on the street.

Kevin Larkin, 18, has been charged with felony burglary along with three juvenile males, ages 13 - 16. All of the suspects are from Boise.

Officers recovered stolen items that included CD's, cell phones, and cash. They are attempting to identify the rightful owners and return the stolen property.

Police want remind citizens the best way to prevent falling victim to so-called "crimes of opportunity" is to lock vehicles at all times, and keep valuables out of sight.
