Newspaper photo coincidence leads to robbery suspect

05:01 PM MST on Thursday, December 13, 2007

Associated Press

LEWISTON - The front page of The Lewiston Tribune was more than a newsy read for police in Clarkston, Washington today. It also served as a tip sheet.

The paper ran a picture from a surveillance video showing an unidentified man suspected of stealing a women's wallet from a convenience store.

On the very same page, it also ran a festive photo of a local man named Michael Millhouse painting Christmas greetings on storefront windows.

When the newspaper's copy editors were putting the page together Wednesday night, they noticed the two men looked a lot alike - one Tribune employee called police to point out the similarities.

Police subsequently arrested Millhouse and a prosecutor charged him with felony second degree theft in connection with the stolen wallet. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Millhouse couldn't be reached for comment by The Associated Press.

The SCI Enterprises window and Zip Trip in Clarkston are in different states - but less than a mile away from each other (see map).
