Morgan’s Boise visit

BOISE-- It's homecoming week for Idaho’s teacher in space.

Barbara Morgan returned from the International Space Station this summer and now she's returned to Idaho.

Barbara’s connection to Idaho runs deep.

She was teaching elementary school in McCall in 1985 when she was selected to be a backup in the teacher-in-space program.

After waiting more than 20 years, she finally took flight in August -- making an historic and successful trip to the International Space Station.

During her time there, she talked with Idaho school children via satellite.

Today, those same students got a more "down to earth" opportunity – a one on one question-and-answer with this famous Idaho astronaut.

"Do you think you will ever make another space trip?" asked a student.

"I would love to.  Two weeks it too short.  I probably won't fly again, but I’d love to.  Because I also want to go back to the classroom.  It was exciting and fun," said Morgan.

"It was cool to see how she was like and she looked normal this time instead of having her hair everywhere," said Elisha Mabey.

Following her morning chat with that exclusive group of children at the Discovery Center of Idaho, Morgan talked with thousand of elementary students at the Morrison Center in a special presentation to be aired on our 24/7 channel.

At 6:30 tonight she will be back at the Morrison Center talking with children and adults alike.  This is free of charge and open to the public, but seating is limited.
