Idaho grizzly cubs sent to San Diego Zoo
11:30 AM MST on Tuesday, December 4, 2007
ISLAND PARK, ID - Two grizzly cubs that began their lives near Yellowstone National Park are now in the San Diego Zoo.
That's after learning bad habits from their mother who was marauding for food in human-occupied areas -- something wildlife officials say likely would have resulted in the cubs' eventual deaths.
The 10-month-old baby bears debuted in southern California in late November.
Meanwhile, their mother -- who had to be relocated twice before the cubs were born -- has been sent to the Washington State University veterinary school.
One of the cubs is being treated for a broken jaw.
San Diego Zoo officials say the male cubs have different personalities -- one is a bit stubborn, while the other is more curious and exploratory.
