Plane crashes into Idaho elementary school

HAYDEN, Idaho -- The pilot of an experimental plane was killed Friday when the plane crashed into the side of an elementary school in Hayden, Idaho.

The pilot of this small plane was killed when it crashed against Atlas Elementary School in Hayden, Idaho on Friday.
Atlast Elementary School was empty at the time, as school as not started yet. Witnesses told emergency crews they heard no engine noise coming from the plane before it went down.
Coeur d'Alene School District spokeswoman Janet Feiler said no school employees were hurt in the crash.
Feiler says a plane clipped the back of the building before it crashed near the school's playground.
Feiler says a preliminary inspection of the school indicates "no significant damage" and classes will begin next week as scheduled.
The name of the pilot has not been released.
Officials from the FAA and NTSB are headed to the scene to take over the investigation.
UNRELATED INCIDENT IN SANDPOINT
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Sandpoint Airport officials confirmed that a small plane had its front nose gear collapse upon landing late this morning. Authorities said there were no injuries.
