Chancellor Baker and Alisha Ritz-Baker of Caldwell have been arrested in New Brunswick, Canada.
CALDWELL – A Caldwell couple charged earlier this year in the beating and kidnapping of a Canyon County man has been arrested in New Brunswick, Canada.
Canyon County Chief Deputy Sheriff Gary says his office has been in contact with Canadian authorities about the arrests of 26-year-old Chancellor Baker and his 27-year-old wife Alisha Ritz-Baker.
They were busted Monday night, and according to a Canadian newspaper, Ritz-Baker is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and dangerous driving. Her husband is charged with providing police with a false identification. The couple will stand trial there on the charges.
The Bakers were arrested in Canyon County on April 11, 2008 after an incident in Nampa in the area of E. Elder Avenue and S. Colorado Street.
A man told police he was put into a black Cadillac Escalade and taken to an unknown where he was beaten by two people. Afterwards, the suspects released the man who went to a local hospital for treament.
Nampa Police took Ritz-Baker into custody that same day on kidnapping and aggravated battery charges. Chancellor Baker was arrested in downtown Caldwell later that night by Caldwell Police. He also faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated battery.
The couple has several outstanding warrants in Canyon County, including failure to appear.
Deulen says the Bakers will be extradited to Idaho after they are finished with the judicial process in Canada. He says that could take months or years.
