Cops seize illegal Mexican booze
08:35 AM MDT on Monday, August 18, 2008
TWIN FALLS - Authorities in southern Idaho have seized 20 bottles of sugar cane alcohol they say were brought into the country illegally from Mexico.
Police say the bottles were not properly labeled and sold at Mi Pueblo bakery markets in Twin Falls and Buhl without a license.
No charges have been filed.
Esidro Nieto owns the Mi Pueblo store in Twin Falls and says he purchased the alcohol in California. He says his customers use it during the holidays to make flan desserts, Mexican egg nog and fruit punch.
Nieto says he didn't know he wasn't allowed to sell the alcohol at his Idaho store.
