IDAHO FALLS -- A state hearing officer has ruled that a convicted child molester violated terms of his parole by having a computer capable of accessing the Internet.

A hearing officer with the Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole issued the ruling Monday in the case of Brad Stowell, who was convicted of two felonies for sexual abuse of a minor following his 1997 arrest at an eastern Idaho Boy Scouts camp.

After his release, Stowell, 36, was imprisoned again in 2005 after being found guilty of violating probation.

He was arrested again last month after probation officials seized a computer found in his Boise apartment.

During a hearing, Stowell argued he was unaware the laptop had wireless Internet capability.

Monday's ruling means Stowell will remain in prison until October when parole commissioners hold a revocation hearing.
