An 8-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being struck while riding his bike across a Nampa crosswalk this morning.

NAMPA -- An 8-year-old boy was rushed to a Boise hospital this morning after he was struck while riding his bike across a Nampa crosswalk.

The accident happened around 10:40 a.m. at a crosswalk at Lake Lowell Road and Midland Boulevard near the Greenbelt.

Nampa Police Lt. Stacy Mowry says the child was conscious and alert when paramedics transported him to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. He is listed in stable condition.

The boy was struck by a Chevy Tahoe headed south on Midland Boulevard as he was crossing the street on his bike. He was the last one riding with a group of friends.

The male driver of the Tahoe told police he did not see the boy. It is not known how fast the SUV was traveling.

Police say the accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued yet.
