Ron Paul brought his presidential campaign to the College of Idaho in Caldwell Friday.

CALDWELL -- Republican presidential canidate Ron Paul spoke to a packed house in Caldwell this afternoon.

More than 1,000 people crowded into the College of Idaho's Jewett Auditorum to hear his message.

Paul is continuing his bid for the Republican nomination despite what most consider insurmountable odds.

His plane was delayed arriving in Boise, so his speech got started around 4:20 p.m., 20 minutes later than scheduled.

Paul is still on the Republican ticket with front-runner John McCain. The two men could not disagree more on the issues such as government spending, the war on Iraq and the size of government.

It is very likely that McCain will get the Republican Party's nomination for president, but that didn't stop Paul from making this trip out west.

"There's still a lot of enthusiasm for what we're doing, although the numbers look like they've already picked our nominee, but everyplace we go we seem to get more people," said Paul.

That was certainly the case in Caldwell today. The Jewett Auditorium was overflowing with Paul supporters, both young and old.

Paul considers himself a constitutionalist and brings a message of getting back to the basics of the Constitution.
