MOUNTAIN HOME AFB -- A bus crash in rural Owyhee County, south of Bruneau, sends at least five people to area hospitals.

According to the Mountain Home Air Force Base Public Affairs Office, 28 passengers were riding in a military bus, which was involved in a single-vehicle accident on highway 51, at mile marker 60 late Thursday afternoon.

Owyhee County investigators say one of the bus's tires blew, sending the vehicle over an embankment.

Two people were taken by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, and at least three other airmen were taken by ground ambulance to the base hospital.

22 personnel who were uninjured were transported back to the base by another bus.
