Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho.
The Washington Post reports today that the bill for Senator Larry Craig’s legal tab has reached nearly half a million dollars.
According to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission, Craig spent $407,000 in campaign funds through February 13.
Craig is now required to pay legal fees out of his own pocket after the U.S. Senate admonished him and ruled he could no longer use campaign contributions for defense costs.
The Washington Post reports Craig made his last legal payment from "Craig for U.S. Senate" to his attorney Billy Martin on Feb. 3 in the amount of $80,000.
Craig continues to appeal a Minnesota court ruling last October that upheld his guilty plea to a disorderly conduct charge in an Minneapolis airport bathroom.
