Faron Hawkins, 49, of Boise, will spend 30 years to life in prison for robbing two Boise banks.
BOISE -- A 49-year-old Boise man who claims he robbed two local banks on behalf of the CIA will spend at least 30 years in prison for his crimes.
Faron Hawkins was convicted by an Ada County jury in January of two counts of felony robbery.
Hawkins admitted robbing two Boise banks in 2005 and 2006.
Hawkins defended himself during the trial. He told the jury he had trained at secret facility at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
He says he gave all proceeds from the two robberies -- estimated at $30,000 -- to a mysterious operative who went by the name of Nigel.
Police arrested Hawkins in August 2006 after a 12-hour armed standoff at a campground near The Dalles, Oregon.
When police found him, he was in a trailer with his wife and three young children.
Fourth District Judge Michael McLaughlin sentenced Hawkins to two concurrent life sentences, with the first 30 years fixed.
